Every since I ordered my MacBook, I’ve been obsessively checking its status through Fedex:
Finally, I google-mapped SUZHOU CN, where my baby spent at least 7 long hours and maybe the whole of its sweet, poignantly short life:
Now I’m wondering, if it’s no longer in SUZHOU, where is it? Fedex only tells you where your package has been, not where it is.
A couple random notes that I’ll make in lieu of chewing my lips. Most of them are stunningly obvious, but we chatter when we are nervous, no? 1) Globalization, it’s real. 2) Data APIs that allow user to access oceans of data, they’re real, too. 3) “Too much information”…it can happen. 4) Some products are more personal the others. I’m guessing that my sandals and microwave are made in China, but I don’t care. 5) Right now, I’m thinking about those sweatshop workers…and hoping that, just as soon as they ship my MacBook, they can organize.

Hi! I just ordered a MacBook. FedEx says it’s in Suzhou. It’s been there for kind of a while. I’m wondering if it’s still in Asia or if it’s on the boat by now. About how long did yours take to ship?
I can’t remember the exact dateline now.
I can tell you that IT FELT like a million years. But I think that between the time I ordered it online and I actually got it was about a week and a half.
Hang in there–and whatever you do, stop checking the Fedex site every couple hours. Pretend for the moment you haven’t ever heard of a MacBook. Go on with your life, it it’s possible.
It will come–and it will smell nice, too.
I can wait that long. No problem! Easy.
Good to know I’m not the only one with a FedEx tracking page bookmarked. Just one more refresh… still in China. Okay, no more until tomorrow. Afternoon. Really!
Please don’t blame too much about China.
If you review over the history of China, you would find out the answer. The Chinese people are confronting many problems and the companies are just “using” people as machine. So… if anything is wrong, please order an answer from the company rather than complain about “China-made” issues.
Good luck man.
AW–I’m not complaining about China or even Apple or Fedex…just mocking my own impatience, and noting how access to Fedex information actually makes it 10x worse.
Well. Maybe it is me take this too serious.
No matter how, I really like your articles on Flash and ActionScript ;)
There’s one special secret Sale link on Amazon:
http://tinyurl.com/2r7ldr
This is open every Friday and ONLY on Fridays!
You can find very good discounts here, although some Fridays you can really get
lucky and make off like an Amazon bandit - I´ve seen discounts there as low as 75%
off sticker Price.
Hello, why did you choose to order your macbook from China and not from local dealer?
Best regards
